When I first bought my home a few years ago, I did not like the carpet at all. My husband thought it was a good idea to have tile installed throughout the house. So we go to Home Depot and buy the tile to cover almost the whole house. We have a friend that installs tile for a living, so he was going to be the one installing the tile. I wanted this granite looking tile, but they wanted almost $3 per tile for the kind I wanted. My husband said that the tile I picked out was going to be way to expensive with how much we were going to buy. His choice was some black tile that was under a dollar per tile. Okay, black tile shows everything. You have to literally sweep and mop a couple times a day to keep it clean. This is having a family of six though.
I have worked around this by buying large area rugs to cover the living room and dining area. For others that want to go with rugs to cover their tile, you can find cheap rugs online at www.superiorrugs.com. They have some pretty cool rugs that you can buy online at clearance prices. I was looking and some of their clearance rugs are over 80% the list price. You can search their website by shape, size, color and even recommended rugs. They even have a rug deal of the day.
I am hoping to be able to purchase some new rugs very soon for my home. I am one that likes to change my house around to get a new look every so often. Having rugs can really make your house look classy and elegant in my opinion. You just never know when someone is going to come over your house that you want to impress. You can even roll them up and store them for that special occasion because I have not figured out how to clean them yet! I just know I want them.

Even though I live in Sunny California, it still can get pretty darn chilly here in the winter. The last few weeks have been really cold here. It would not be so bad if I had central heating in my house. My house is a little on the old side. It was built in 1958 and still has the same original wall heaters that were originally installed. What my problem is that only one out of two of them work. The one in the living room does not turn on. I am hoping I can afford new electric heating installation in my home someday. The price to convert my house right now to central heat and air is a little out of my price range. I have been thinking of doing the finance program they have available here, but who knows. Sometimes I just turn on my oven and open the door to put in some heat in my kitchen. Yes, my desk is in my kitchen! That is where I like it. I have a view to my living room where my kids spend most of their time. It works for me!
Anyone else working in the cold this winter?
